Proximity sensors could be found in many portable devices like smartphones and tablets to detect the human presence to shut off the screen and adjust backlight brightness for power saving. Its application scenario varies from direct sunlight at noon to dark room at night. This means the ambient light should also be compensated dim light at dark to direct sunlight at noon without saturation. So, high-dynamic-range (DR) is needed for both photodiode and readout circuits. Moreover, the temperature stability of the sensor should be taken into account. The target of this project is to design such a high-performance readout circuit with minimum area and energy.
